Flying into Madrid

Madrid–Barajas (MAD)

Spain's biggest airport sits 13km northeast of the centre, with four terminals. Terminal 4 handles most Iberia and oneworld long-haul flights and is a shuttle ride from T1–T3, so check your terminal before you travel.

Getting to the centre

Metro Line 8 runs to Nuevos Ministerios in about 30 minutes. The Airport Express bus runs 24/7 to Atocha and Cibeles. Taxis charge a fixed €33 fare to anywhere in the central zone.

When fares drop

Madrid is cheapest in January–February and again in November, outside the Christmas window. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons to visit, so book those further ahead.
